Please consider volunteering for one of the City of Colorado Springs and El Paso County Boards. Not only will you learn about the critical work that these boards do, you will also have an opportunity to give input on topics that may impact the construction industry and the community. City/County Drainage Board The City/County Drainage Board acts as an advisory board to City Council and the Board of County Commissioners regarding subdivision codes and regulations relating to the drainage and control of flood and surface waters and administration of the subdivision Storm Water Drainage Funds. The Board also works closely with the City Engineer and the County Engineer. Meetings are held the 1st Thursday of every month, 3:00 pm, Council Chambers, City Hall. One citizen at-large member residing in El Paso County and one banker Historic Preservation Board Acts in an advisory capacity to the City Council in implementing the Historic Preservation program for the city. El Paso County City/County Drainage Board The El Paso County Board of Commissioners is seeking community-minded citizen volunteers to serve on the El Paso County City/County Drainage Board. Applications for the open position are due by October 30, 2020. The City / County Drainage Board acts as an advisory board to the Colorado Springs City Council and the El Paso County Board of Commissioners regarding (1) subdivision codes and regulations relating to the drainage and control of flood and surface waters and (2) administration of the Subdivision Storm Drainage funds. The Board also works closely with the City Engineer and County Engineer to make recommendations on new drainage studies and fees. The Board consists of seven members appointed jointly by the City Council and Board of County Commissioners for a three-year term. Terms are limited to two full consecutive terms. Board meetings are held on the first Thursday of the month at 3:00 pm at City Council Chambers, City Hall, 107 N. Nevada Avenue, Colorado Springs, Colorado. The Drainage Board is currently seeking a banker and a citizen-at-large member who resides in El Paso County. Community Services Block Grant The El Paso County Board of Commissioners is seeking community-minded citizen volunteers to serve on the El Paso County Community Services Block Grant (CSBG) Advisory Board. The role of the El Paso County CSBG Advisory Board is to participate actively in the development, planning, implementation and evaluation of the Community Services Block Grant (CSBG) program in El Paso County, serving low-income communities and making recommendations to the Board of County Commissioners. The Board consists of nine members appointed by the Board of County Commissioners for three-year terms; members are limited to two full consecutive terms. Commission meetings are held quarterly; March, June, September, and December on the 2nd Friday of the month from 2:00–3:30 pm. Meetings are currently being held over an online platform in lieu of in-person, and this will continue to occur for the foreseeable future. The Community Services Block Grant (CSBG) Advisory Board is currently seeking one new member. This member must be from either the low-income sector or from the private sector. Highway Advisory Commission The El Paso County Board of Commissioners is seeking community-minded citizen volunteers to serve on the El Paso County Highway Advisory Commission. The Highway Advisory Commission reviews and comments on issues relating to the management and operation of the Transportation Division and makes recommendations to the Board of County Commissioners. Highway Advisory Commissioners must demonstrate an active interest in the goals and objectives of the Transportation Division, and be willing to work with other members to achieve the goals and objectives and help resolve problems. The Board consists of nine members appointed by the Board of County Commissioners for three-year terms; members are limited to two full consecutive terms. Five members represent each of the county commissioner districts, with the remaining members representing the county at-large. Commission meetings are held on the third Wednesday of the month at 9:00 am at 2880 International Circle, Colorado Springs, Colorado.
