The City of Colorado Springs is seeking volunteers to serve on the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board.
As an advisory body to the City Council on parks and recreation resources within the City, the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board reviews matters pertaining to the planning, development, improvement, beautification, equipping and maintaining the public parks, playgrounds, programs, urban forest, recreation facilities and resources including golf courses and center street medians. Meetings take place the second Thursday of each month at 7:30 a.m.

The City of Colorado Springs is now accepting applications to fill one vacancy on the Civil Service Commission.
The Civil Service Commission administers the rules for the City's police and fire departments governing the classification, employment, promotion, discipline, and conduct of the City's civil service employees. As deemed necessary, the Civil Service Commission develops and recommends changes to the rules to City Council. Meetings take place the first Tuesday of every other month at 8:30 a.m.

The City Planning Commission is a nine-member body appointed by City Council to review various development applications and proposals. Some applications are decided at this level while others proceed onto City Council for final approval. Planning Commission meets the third Thursday of each month at the Pikes Peak Regional Development Center. The meetings start at 8:30 am and continue until all items are heard.

The El Paso County Board of Commissioners is seeking community-minded citizen volunteers to serve as associate members on the Planning Commission. Applications for the open positions are due by May 4.
The Planning Commission reviews planning petitions and makes recommendations to the Board of County Commissioners on land use requests, and prepares a master plan for unincorporated areas of the county. The Commission consists of nine members and three associate members. Associate members are appointed by the Board of County Commissioners for one-year terms and may be reappointed for an indefinite number of terms.

Community Services Block Grant (CSBG) Advisory Board- NEWS RELEASE - April 23, 2012
The El Paso County Board of Commissioners is seeking community-minded citizen volunteers to serve on the newly created Community Services Block Grant (CSBG) Advisory Board. Applications for the open positions are due by May 18, 2012.
The CSBG Advisory Board actively participates in the development, planning, implementation and evaluation of the Community Services Block Grant (CSBG) program in El Paso County, serving low-income communities and making recommendations to the Board of County Commissioners. The board consists of nine members: three public sector representatives, three low-income representatives who reside in a low-income neighborhood of the county serviced by the CSBG program; and three private sector representatives from business, labor, industry, religious groups, public welfare, law enforcement, education or other groups or interests in the county.

Electrical Engineer representative on the City/County Electrical Committee -NEWS RELEASE -March 29, 2012
The El Paso County Board of Commissioners is seeking a community-minded citizen volunteer to serve as an Electrical Engineer representative on the City/County Electrical Committee. Applications for the open position are due by April 20, 2012.
The City/County Electrical Committee reviews registration of applicants, work performance, and minor variance requests under the Electrical Code. (Contractors are licensed by the state of Colorado, but must register to perform work in the jurisdictions served by the Regional Building Department.) Its membership includes an architect, building contractor (A, B or C license), a building contractor (A or B license), a citizen-at-large, an electrical contractor, an electrical engineer and a journey electrician. The Colorado Springs City Council and/or the El Paso County Board of Commissioners appoint members for three-year terms, and members are limited to serving two full consecutive terms.

Commissioner for the El Paso County Housing Authority
The El Paso County Housing Authority was established by the Board of County Commissioners in 1993 to help promote the availability of decent, safe, and sanitary dwelling accommodations in the county for persons of low-to-moderate income. The Authority advises the Board of County Commissioners on matters regarding the issuance of bonds for the acquisition, construction, and rehabilitation of single- and multi-family residential housing to provide more affordable housing opportunities for residents. In addition, the authority manages the Housing Trust Fund, which provides funding to community-based organizations for innovative housing-related programs, and contracts with the county to administer a rehabilitation program for single-family dwellings.
The Housing Authority consists of six members appointed by the Board of County Commissioners for five-year terms. Terms are unlimited per the bylaws. (Job Desc.)

District 1 representative on the Forestry and Weed Advisory Commission - NEWS RELEASE -March 1, 2012
The El Paso County Board of Commissioners is seeking community-minded citizen volunteers to serve as an at-large representative and a District 1 representative on the Forestry and Weed Advisory Commission. District 1 includes the northwest portion of the county north of the US Air Force Academy, including the areas of Monument, Palmer Lake and Black Forest. Applications for the open positions are due by March 26, 2012.
The Forestry and Weed Advisory Commission develops and reviews action plans for the integrated management of state mandated weeds. It also serves to educate the public by speaking to groups and owner associations and displaying educational materials at community events. It consists of nine members appointed by the Board of County Commissioners for three-year terms; members are limited to serving two consecutive terms. Two members of the commission must be residents of and own 40+ acres of land in unincorporated El Paso County.

The El Paso County Board of Commissioners is seeking community-minded citizen volunteers to serve on the Citizen Outreach Group (COG). Applications for the open positions are due by April 26.
The Citizen Outreach Group (COG) needs individuals from commissioner districts 1, 2 and 5, as well as at-large members. Commissioner District 1 includes the northwest portion of the county north of the US Air Force Academy, including the areas of Monument, Palmer Lake and Black Forest; District 2 encompasses the eastern portion of the county; and District 5 covers most of the city of Colorado Springs.
COG members reach out to county residents and encourage open communication between citizens and their commissioners. It consists of 11 to 15 citizen representatives: two from each of the county’s five commissioner districts, with the balance of citizen representatives from the community at large. District and at-large members are appointed by the Board of County Commissioners for three-year terms and are limited to serving three consecutive terms.

Planning Commission
The Planning Commission is a volunteer commission of seven members appointed by the Board of Trustees. The Planning Commission meets once a month to make recommendations on land use applications and land use related ordinances before they are heard by the Board of Trustees. The Planning Commission meetings are held in Town Hall on the second Wednesday of each month. Meetings begin at 6:30pm.
The Planning Commission currently has openings. If you are interested in being considered for an appointment and have lived in Monument for at least one year, call Town Hall for an application or contact the Development Services Department at 884-8018 or Nebaugh@townofmonument.net.
Planning Commission Alternate
The Board of Trustees of the Town of Monument is accepting applications for one vacancy on the Planning Commission, for a Planning Commission Alternate. Candidates must be at least 18 years of age, be a US citizen, and have lived within the Town of Monument for at least the last twelve (12) consecutive months.
