Our Mission Statement
The Housing and Building Association of Colorado Springs is committed to promoting policies that allow for the production of safe, decent and affordable housing and to enhancing the environment for the housing and building industry in El Paso County.
Our History
The Housing and Building Association of Colorado Springs was formed in 1952 by a group of builders who saw a need to unite to address the many concerns and issues affecting the home building industry. Since that time, The HBA of Colorado Springs is made up of more than 700 member companies ranging from builders, developers, trade contractors, suppliers, mortgage lenders, Realtors, title companies, remodelers, interior designers, architects, landscapers, and so on… These companies all play a vital role in the construction industry in Colorado Springs and surrounding areas. Together we contribute to the growth, prosperity and quality of life this exceptional community has come to enjoy.
The HBA provides its members with services, programs, and legislative representation and membership opportunities unparalleled by any other trade association.
We are a private non-profit, 501 (C) (6) corporation representing home builders, multi-family builders, remodelers, developers, subcontractors, suppliers, manufacturer and housing-related professionals operating within the Colorado Springs area. A major goal of the Association is to raise the public's perception of the people who provide shelter. Housing is a necessity as well as part of the American Dream and we are, through our members, the providers who meet the housing needs of the community. We are also the authoritative voice and information source for housing to government, the public and the housing consumer.
A code of ethics directs our members to achieve these goals of the Association:
- Home ownership should be in reach of every American
- Each house should be well designed, constructed and comply with current regulations
- Each home should be built under the free enterprise system
Our Association is chartered by the National Association of Home Builders and is one of more than 800 home builder associations in the United States. There are thirteen other home builder associations in the state of Colorado, all of which have formed the Colorado Association of Home Builders as the state association to act as a central coordination organization for state-wide issues of importance and to lobby the legislature on such issues. They also carry out programs that are more effectively implemented at the state, rather than the local level.
