Annual dues are $630 per year for Builder/Developer Member and Associate Member.

Affiliate membership dues $150 per year.

________ Payment Plan: For Builder and Associate Members, a dues payment plan is available for members who provide credit card information to the HBA.  Your credit card will be charged $315 upon joining and $157.50 plus a $10 carrying charge ($167.50 total) in month 3 and in month 6.  Selection of the dues payment plan commits you to a full payment of the dues and carrying charges annually.  Your credit card will also be charged $315 in your month of renewal with the $167.50 charges being incurred in months 3 and 6.

Important Note:  Selection of the extended payment option commits you to full payment of the dues and carrying charges annually.  Should you elect to cancel your membership, after paying the first quarterly annual installment for the next year's annual membership, any prepayment (less the carrying charge for that payment) will be refunded with a 30 day written notice to HBA.  The extended payment program is not available for members joining in order to participate in major HBA events such as the Home & Garden Show, MAME Awards, or the Parade of Homes.

  • In addition to the base dues, members who build are charged assessments, beginning from the date of membership, on residential and commercial construction starts and on lots (the assessment schedule is outlined below). Builder members will additionally be assessed on permits to benefit the Colorado Springs Economic Development Council, and these assessments will be paid immediately to the EDC. Also included in the dues is membership in the National Association of Home Builders ($120 per year) and the Colorado Association of Home Builders ($75 per year).
  • Dues payments to the HBA of Colorado Springs are not deductible as charitable contributions for federal tax purposes. However, dues payments may be deductible as ordinary and necessary business expenses, subject to an exclusion for lobbying activity. Because a portion of your dues is used for lobbying by the National Association of Home Builders and the Colorado Association of Home Builders, $51.60 is not deductible for income tax purposes, while $14.50 is not deductible for Affiliates.

Assessments

In addition to the base dues, Members are charged assessments, beginning from the date of membership, on residential and commercial construction starts on lots.  This Association's jurisdiction shall follow and apply, for assessment purpose or otherwise, to any and all other business entities engaged as general contractor of construction or land development, and in which an Association Member is a principal, i.e., has ownership interests or management responisibilities, provided said other business entity activities are within the territorial jurisdiction of this Association.  It is the responsibility of every Association Member to promptly inform the Association of every other entity in which an Association Member is a Principal.

Colorado Association of Home Builders Assessment

A $20 per housing unit assessment will be paid by each Builder to the Colorado Association of Home Builders.  Note:  A maximum of $6,000 in assessments will be paid to the CAHB in any year by any one member company.

Economic Development Corporation Assessment

HBA Members will additionally be assessed based on the table below on each building permit pulled from the Pikes Peak Regional Building Department.  Upon collection, the assesments below will be paid to the Colorado Springs Economic Development Corporation (EDC).  If the Member has made a separate contribution to the EDC, these assessments may not apply.

Housing & Building Association of Colorado Springs

The three assessments outlined below are subject to a $30,000 annual maximum per member company.

1.  Single Family Dwelling Assessments               .02 cents per square foot  

Single Family dwelling assessments shall be based on the number of square feet in the dwelling.  Determination of square feet per dwelling will be made in accordance with the formula used by the Regional Building Department in determining cost of building permits.

2.  Land Development                                      $30 per platted lot             

Any member of the Association engaged in the development of land will be assessed according to the filed plat, or if this information is not available, the Member will furnish the information necessary for billing.

NAHB Member Identification (ID) Coding Instructions

IMPORTANT: This must be filled out in order to complete processing of your membership through the local Housing & Building Association of Colorado Springs/Pikes Peak Region, Colorado Association of Home Builders (CAHB) & National Association of Home Builders (NAHB).

The NAHB Member Identification (ID) Code is made up of eleven data blocks that are explained below. The ID Code is designed for use by NAHB and its affiliated state and local associations to provide services that respond to the changing needs of our membership. If the requested data for a particular block is not applicable, enter a dash (-). Also, if you do not know the exact answer for a particular block, please give your best estimate.

In order for an associate member to receive the "Builder Magazine" they must be classified with an occupation code ranging from (A-Z): a "Z" or "other" classification code must also be further defined by writing the member’s specific occupation in the space provided. Any associate member not classified as outlined will not receive a copy of the "Builder Magazine".
