Mission statement: To ensure housing affordability by providing credible and knowledgeable information and resources to members, consumers, regulators and legislators resulting in support for voluntary and cost-effective solutions to homebuyers’ demand for green building and design. The Smart Green Council continues to work on developing informational pieces for our industry, lawmakers, and the home buying public. Please contact John Kisiel if you want a copy of the “LOOKING TO BE GREEN? ASK YOUR BUILDER THE RIGHT QUESTIONS” article which appeared in the Parade of Homes magazine.
The goal of the Smart Green council is to improve the building environment through education by advocating freedom of choice for the buyer and builder in the area of green building. We promote voluntary, market-driven solutions as opposed to politically-driven mandates. We encourage green building, development and design that make environmental sense and economic sense. There must be a business case for both.
The Smart Green Council and Green Day will be suspended until the first quarter of 2010. If you are interested in being part of the Council there will be a planning session meeting set for later in February. Contact John at HBA. Watch for Green Day to begin again with new and interesting Lunch and Learn Seminars at that time.
