Call for Action for JOBS!
Our City Council has recognized the importance of a successful economic development program and made it the centerpiece of the City’s 2008 Strategic Plan. Unfortunately, it is an unfunded priority. Meanwhile, our primary competitors for bringing and retaining good quality are outspending us by 8 to 1 in some cases:

We cannot achieve economic vitality without investing in economic vitality. The Economic Sustainability Committee has recommended a way to help fund economic development activities through the JOBS proposal. It will continue a small mill levy currently set be expire in November be continued to help fund economic development in your community. Your HBA Board of Directors has voted to support the JOBS proposal. We believe it is a meaningful but fiscally thoughtful way of attracting, retaining and creating quality jobs that ensure a diverse economic base, and a resilient and growing City tax base. We cannot afford to postpone an investment in our future any longer and we need you to add your voice to help get this passed.
Please contact City Council and ask them to support this important initiative! The Council will be voting on this on Tuesday , January 27. We are asking all HBA members to please email Council members today and attend the City Council meeting starting at 1:00 on Tuesday the 27th !
