Low-Voltage/Electronics Installer I
Job Description:
The Level I Installer is an individual who works with supervision to install wiring, cable, components, and
devices for low-voltage electronics in residential applications (including home theater, audio, video, home
automation, radio frequency, telephony, data networks and central vacuum). Tasks will include installing
cable for new and pre-existing construction to be used in a variety of technology systems and sub-systems.
Work will consist primarily of cable preparation, tracing, identification, labeling, termination, and testing
of all structured wiring and components such as connectors, keypads, jacks, wall-plates, a/v equipment (e.g.
home theater, distributed a/v), network equipment, phone equipment, and surveillance equipment. Most
installations will include working with the client to determine ideal placement of termination points,
including the mounting of relevant components.
Responsibilities
Build a customer relationship based on trust, dependability, timely responsiveness, and sensitivity
to their business and personal needs
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral,
or diagram form
Must be able to read work orders and road maps, and accurately perform simple mathematical
calculations
Routing of telephone, data, audio and video cables during the rough-in phase of construction
Termination of telephone, data, audio and video cables during the trim-out phase of construction
Basic knowledge of audio/video signal flow
Assist in the installation of audio and video components
Complete and submit reports on a daily basis to document work-in-progress, completed work,
invoices, payments, and other necessary tracking paperwork
A sense of urgency for completing projects on time and doing quality work
Be available to work 15-25 hours per week
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
High School education required. College degree or 2 year technical degree a plus
0-4 years experience working with multiple cabling technologies
Valid driver’s license required
Reliable personal transportation (for local travel) required (Mileage reimbursement available)
Must be able to lift and carry up to 70 lbs., use standard tools, and perform work in unusual and
sometimes difficult positions (i.e. climb ladders, work in trusses, etc.)
Must be able to work throughout the year in various weather conditions
Knowledge of Microsoft Office and basic PC skills a plus
Must have color vision and the ability to decipher wire color codes
Ability to pass a standard background investigation and drug test
Position is currently a part-time (15-25 hours per week), but may turn into full-time in the future. Pay
commiserate with experience.
