As an EDC Investor, I am asking that you give consideration to supporting the important and urgent work of the Colorado Springs Regional Economic Development Corporation. With over 31,000 unemployed in our region, we need everyone to support EDC and their job creation efforts now.
Almost eighty percent of EDC’s funding comes from the private sector. The demands on the organization to achieve its mission are greater at this time while funding is challenging for obvious reasons.
EDC is the lead organization for marketing the region to new employers. We also have staff dedicated to retaining our existing employers and addressing the needs of our local entrepreneurs trying to grow a business.
In 2010, seven EDC-assisted companies announced 1,398 new primary jobs. Most recently, EDC led the effort to retain the Space Foundation, negotiating a new and upgraded facility and a commitment on the part of the Foundation to remain in the region for the next fifteen years.
The Board and staff are currently developing a new Strategic Plan that will take into account the changes that have occurred in the national and global economies.
Recently, EDC, in cooperation with the City of Colorado Springs, El Paso County and a growing number of businesses, launched a Think Local campaign which is intended to retain more business opportunities and economic benefit for the people of this region.
Below is information on investment opportunities in EDC. Enterprise Zone tax credits are available for investments and investors are invited to participate in regularly scheduled events that offer significant networking opportunities.
